The demand for PD chips for Type-C related applications is actually very large. From the most basic point of view, both ends of the connector and the ports of the two connected devices need a PD chip. The transmission line itself also needs the support of the PD chip. It already needs 5 chips to support, not to mention devices that require multiple ports such as notebook computers, such as Apple's latest MacBook, which already supports 4 Type-C ports. If you add other electronic devices, chargers, Hubs and other products besides notebook computers, the demand for PD chips can be said to be very amazing.
Regarding the leading advantage of Cypress in the Type-C field, Mark Fu believes that the most critical point is that Cypress covers almost all the application fields that Type-C currently knows and may continue to develop in the future. Therefore, it is compared with other types of products that only focus on specific products. Manufacturers, who have a more comprehensive understanding of technology and market, have advantages over their peers in problem-solving capabilities and product maturity, and can naturally gain the trust of customers.
